Prior to the insertion of dental implants, augmentation is often necessary. To facilitate bony healing and to reduce resorption of the transplanted bone, the additional use of stem cells and slowly resorbable bone substitutes is helpful. The results of a 5 year prospective study on about 100 patients show excellent results concerning implant survival and maintenance of the transplanted bone. The algorithm of bone augmentation using stem cells will be demonstrated.
