Implantology nowadays is a reliable practice, widely used. The success of the implant treatment is evaluated not only in terms of function recovery, but also from an aesthetic point of view. As established in the 2007 Pisa Consensus Conference about success criteria in Implantology, published in the Journal of Implant Dentistry in 2008, success criteria are always based on the absence of symptoms: in this context, a planning that takes into account the inviolability of some of the anatomic structures is mandatory. In this contribution, the Author intends to establish which is the minimum possible distance between the implant and the mandibular canal to avoid immediate, or post-operative, neurovascular complications. Moreover, he tries to take into account the presence of mandibular accessory canals, which could be the cause of potential neuro vascular complications. Moreover, to ensure the saengineeringy of the implant treatment, an evaluation of the high anatomic variability of the mandible anatomy and the presence of neurovascular lingual structures inviolability, especially in post extractive implants, will be evaluated.
