FUE Policies
The Future University in Egypt (FUE) commitment to sustainability, and the aspiration to contribute to a more just, humane and sustainable world require consideration in its sustainability procurement/purchasing activities, sustainability action funding, and investment policies and practices.
FUE is aware on how sustainability procurement/purchasing activities have a deep effect of the environment, society, and economy. FUE can build resilience and become future-proofed through increased efficiency and effectiveness through sustainable procurement. According to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the seven key areas to address within sustainable procurement are:
-
Human rights
-
Organizational governance
-
Fair operating practices
-
Labor practices
-
The environment
-
Community involvement and development
-
Consumer issues
FUE is committed to embed sustainability procurement by adopting several aspects:

-
Ensure that environmental, social and whole life cost impacts are taken into consideration in the assessment of value for money
-
Reduce the demand for products and services by promoting the reuse and recycle of waste.

Regarding the investment policies and practices, FUE will be a responsible steward of its financial resources and will prudently exercise ethical and social stewardship in its investment policy and practices, consistent with its mission and strategic priorities and abiding by the fiduciary and investment standards applicable to institutional funds. Consistent with achieving FUE’s investment objectives, the FUE investment policy will be implemented within the sustainable investment framework. There will be no funding or direct investment in any activities that violate any security, strategy or mandate that consider the climate action. All the investments by FUE will consider the transition of the global economy from fossil fuels to sustainable energy to be long-term in nature. FUE will communicate to investment managers its commitment to sustainable investing and encourage them to engage with corporate management to promote corporate responsibility. In addition, FUE will proactively seek opportunities to invest in funds or companies that reduce carbon emissions and greenhouse gases, promote social responsibility, and seek solutions for climate change.
