Future Architecture Between Materials and Fabrication By:

Under the patronage of the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Future University in Egypt, a seminar was held on Wednesday, 4 April 2018 at 11:30 pm at the Great Theater of the University in the presence of Prof. / Mohamed Abdel Rahim Badr, the Faculty Dean, and Prof. Abuelela Abuelnaga, the Faculty Vice Dean of Education and Students’ Affairs, and Prof. Samir Sadek Hosny, Head of the Department of Architectural Engineering, and the Faculty members, the Teaching Assistants of the department, as well as the fourth and fifth level students at the Department of Architecture at the Faculty of Engineering and Technology at the Future University in Egypt. The seminar was attended by students from other departments as well.
The lecture highlighted an innovative trend in the future sustainable architecture, where architectural design is derived through materials and fabrication as design tools. A wide scope of prototypes and research work of the speaker in Germany was shown and illustrated. Other comparable examples from international architects and researches were also presented. Themes discussed included bio-based materials, biomimetics, adaptive architecture, smart systems, kinetic architecture and their fabrication technologies.
