FUE Researcher investigates A New Anticancer Drug at the University of Colorado
Pharmacist Reem Tarek Attia was awarded the 2013 Azazy Summer Internship Scholarship to carry out part of her M.S. thesis research at the University Of Colorado, College Of Pharmacy.
The new (under patent) drug is a novel chemotherapy from the chemical class of oxazaphosphorine drugs. The unique characteristic of this drug is the targeted therapy towards the cancer cells more than the normal cells and is specific for pancreatic, colon, prostate and brain cancers. The following techniques were studied: Cytotoxicity, Flowcytomepic, ELISA and Western blot assays on human cell lines.
