FUE Pharmacy Scientists achieve International Recognition
FUE pharmacy professors and teaching assistants scored a national and international record by receiving eleven acceptances for their research work submissions to the International Federation of Pharmacy Congress ( F.I.P).
September 2013, Dublin Ireland. This is a national and international record of the number of accepted presentations from one organization during more than 100 years of the FIP. Chairman Khaled Azazy approved the sponsoring by Late Dr. Hassan Azazy Scholarships of the eleven members of the Faculty of Pharmacy to attend this prestigious conference and present their research findings. Among the outstanding research achievements are drug discoveries by Professor Hussien El Subbagh and his team for the synthesis and in-vitro proof of antimicrobial, antitumor and schistosomicidal compounds. TA Iten Mamdouh, under the supervision of Professor Khairia Yousef and in collaboration of the University of Uppsala, Sweden synthesized effective anticancer drugs. TA Aya El Fouly and TA Menna Ismail will present the result of their summer internships at the University of New Mexico, USA with professor Linda Felton and Dr. Graham Timmins.
TA Aya developed new coating formulations for the effective protection and controlled release of therapeutic agents and TA Menna developed and validated new analytical spectrophotometric and chromatographic techniques for cardiovascular drug mixtures of Aliskerin Hydrochlorothiazide , Indapamide and Perindopril. TA Dalia El Khouly concluded the potential antifibrotic effect of Thymoquinone through inhibition of NF-K activation which helps in understanding and treatment of pulmonary fibrosis. TA Nada El Hoffy under the supervision of Professor Hussien Ammar managed to develop a novel nasal drug delivery system for the antihypertensive drug Diltiazem Hydrochloride which improved its biological performance and boosted its bioavailability through prolonging its duration of action inside the body.
Professor Adel Sakr, Board of trustees Chair Assistant, Emeritus Congress Chair, FIP-IPS, and member of FIP-AIM ADVISORY BOARD will co-chair international deans sessions to discuss the impact of competency framework on pharmacy education and plan how to modify curriculum to take into account competency development, patient saengineeringy and social accountability.
