Electrical Engineering Department Congratulates Kareem Ahmed For winning the First Place in the ‘Multirobot Patrolling Competition’
RobotCraft is a novel collective internship, that brought 84 students from 21 different countries all over the world, provided by Ingeniarius, Ltd., Portugal. It was held in the University of Coimbra, Portugal between the 3rd of July and the 3rd of September 2017. The objective was to teach mobile robotics using industry standards and typical tools, such as Arduino, Raspberry Pi and Robot Operating System (ROS).
The students were divided into 24 teams each of them worked on his own robot. At the end of the internship they had the chance to compete against each other in two different competitions, namely ‘The Maze’ and ‘Robot Patrolling’.
Kareem’s team ranked in the first place of the multi-robot patrolling simulation competition, in the third place of the multi-robot patrolling real-world competition, and in the fifth place of the single-robot maze competition.
Being one of the top 10 most promising interns, Kareem also received a recommendation letter and a mentorship invitation for the next year RobotCraft.
During the program, interns had the chance to visit different cities in Portugal including Porto, Lisbon, Algarve and Aviero.
