Cultural Festival
The Cairo Opera House witnessed on the 15th and 19th of May, 2016 at the Grand Theatre, the FUE ninth Annual Cultural Festival "Egyptian symbols".
On the 15th of May, students performed songs such as “Edhak karkar, Zena walah zena and Ya tamr hena; which were received great audience interaction. In addition to the choir performance, the university orchestra played a set of musical tracks that they were trained on by Dr. Iman Hosni; a Professor of Western singing techniques, theater singing, performing arts and sound science at the Higher Institute of the Academy of Arts for Arab music. The orchestra performance was followed by a contemporary dance production.
On the 19th of May an Arts Gallery including 18 art workshops featuring several types of arts training, including sculpture, portrait painting, caricature drawing, fashion design as well as porcelain and ceramic arts. A play entitled “Elselem w Elteban” an exert from the play “Sotra men elmakhmal” written by Astanslav Strutev, which deals with the issue of bureaucracy in a satirical way, was also performed. The play which was directed by Khaled Galal showcased the talents of students who were passionate about being part of the festival. The play received extremely positive reviews from the audience who commented on the professionalism of students’ performances, as well as the impressive technical accomplishments of the play in terms of lighting, stage design and costume and make-up.
