Faculty of Economics and Political Science invited Mr. Mohamed Farid Saleh, Chairman of the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) and the Federation of Euro-Asian Stock Exchanges, Thursday October 18, 2018 to give a public lecture to FUE staff and students at FUE Theater.
Mr. Farid presented recent economic national and global trends in relation to stock exchange markets. He highlighted key concepts in macroeconomics and reform programs, indicating intertwined relationship between Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and interest rates in different countries, such as USA, Argentina, UK, Egypt,…etc.
Mr. Farid also discussed the impact of Egypt's economic reform on GDP growth rate and attracting foreign investment in new sectors such as renewable energy. He also explained the Impossible Trinity concept and the evolution of stock exchange market in Egypt as well as its structure. In addition, different types of financial instruments such as (stocks, bonds, EGX 30, EGX 70 and the Certificate of Deposits) were discussed.
