Grade Point Average (GPA)
At the end of each semester and summer Session, you will receive a GPA based on the grades you earned in all of the courses taken during that semester. To find out how your GPA is calculated, follow these steps:
Step 1: Add the number of credit hours attached to each course—this is the total number of credit hours attempted.
Step 2: Calculate the total number of grade points earned for each course by multiplying the number of credit hours assigned to the course by the number of grade points equivalent to the letter grade received.
Step 3: Add the total number of grade points earned for all courses. This is the total number of grade points earned
Step 4: Divide the total number of grade points earned by the total number of credit hours attempted. This is your GPA calculated on a four-point scale.
GPA calculation will be guided by the following academic policy:
Grades of ‘W’, ‘I’, ‘P’, ‘NP’, ‘T’ and ‘L’ are excluded from the GPA calculation.
Grades of A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C, C-, and F are included in the GPA calculation.
A student who misses the final examination without an appropriate reason will receive a grade of F.
Credits for courses graded F are used to compute GPA, but they do not count toward graduation.
An Incomplete ‘I’ grade does not enter into the calculation of the CGPA until required coursework is completed and a grade is assigned.
When a course is repeated, only the most recent grade earned will be included in the cumulative GPA calculation.
