Prof. Clive G Wilson, Ph.D., E.F.A.P.S., F.C.R.S. is a research professor in Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy & Biomedical sciences. He was formerly the J. P. Todd Professor of Pharmaceutics at Strathclyde University and is a past president of the European Union Federation for Pharmaceutical Sciences. He remains on Senate with interests in European training policy and education. Major areas of research have been the study of the behaviour of drug formulations in man. With others, he pioneered applications of scintigraphy in the study of drug absorption following oral, nasal, pulmonary and ophthalmic delivery. His research group covers projects in novel polymer chemistry, oral bioavailability, microfabrication of implants for ocular drug delivery and drug-loaded stents. This is added to his long-standing and continuing interest in gastrointestinal physiology applied to the study of oral dosage forms and to the examination of ageing in the human eye. He has published more than 160 papers, seven books and over 100 reviews and book chapters and has supervised 64 Ph.D. and 1 M.D. student. He was made a Fellow of the Controlled Release Society in June 2010 and an Eminent Fellow of the Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences in September 2011.
