Prof. Tom Cotter is Professor and Chair of Biochemistry at University College Cork Ireland and leads a research group with an interest in the development of drugs for diseases such as degenerative conditions of the eye and cancer. He graduated with a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Oxford and has held positions in the USA. He received several awards including the Boyle Medal for his research, which is the most prestigious award in Irish science. He is a founding board member of Science Foundation Ireland, which is Ireland’s biggest funder of scientific research and sits on several Scientific Advisory Boards.
