Future University in Egypt is Awarded Three Stars by QS Stars 2016
In a first for the education sector in Egypt, Future University in Egypt (FUE) has been crowned by QS Stars’ QS Intelligence Unit as a Three Stars Institution, making it the first and only private Egyptian university to achieve this international rating, and the second Egyptian university after Ain Shams. QS Stars’ rating system facilitates the evaluation of universities across a much broader range of criteria and with respect to established thresholds rather than the performance of others. This rating is based on several important and pivotal criteria, including: the university’s academic reputation and the percentage of faculty members to students, among other criteria.
Prof. Ebada Sarhan, the President of Future University, received the rating certificate in a special ceremony that took place during the 6th QS Middle East and Africa Professional Leaders in Education Conference, which was recently held at the UAE University in Al Ain. “The rating marks a significant achievement for FUE, highlighting our leadership position in the education market and confirming the high quality academic standards and curriculum we have to offer,” Dr. Sarhan stated.
“FUE begun working the very next day on implementing an ambitious plan for FUE’s scientific research development and international publishing,” Dr. Sarhan mentioned, pointing out that high publishing rates for FUE will increase international recognition and allow the university to reach more students, to stand out and be recognized for their excellence as well as increase funding for international research. “This is part of FUE’s plan as we work towards achieving a five-star rating within the next two years at most,” he added.
QS Stars is a rating system which allows students to get a wider picture of an institution’s qualities, looking at everything from the employability of graduates, to sports facilities and community engagement. It is designed to reflect the nuanced mission of universities, and the needs of students, who may be interested in things other than those which traditional rankings consider. The QS Stars system evaluates universities against a range of important performance indicators based on a ratings method.
“ The QS Stars rating provide students and parents with a detailed analysis and a comprehensive reference of universities’ performance broken down by a broad set of criteria, aiding them in their search for a compatible university, that meets their needs and desires; making this rating of significant to FUE,” explained Dr. Sarhan
He stressed on the tireless efforts made by FUE in order to achieve this significant accomplishment in a short period of time compared with the some of the oldest and most prestigious universities in the region. “FUE’s academic environment is an incubator for excellence and creativity; offering the needed care and encouragement that students need,” he explained.
The QS Stars audit evaluates an institution against over 50 different indicators, and awards universities between one and five + stars over eight wider fields, as well as an overall rating. The objectives are to allow institutions to shine, irrespective of their size, shape and mission and to shine a light on excellence that may otherwise remain in the shade.
